"The Marikina Valley", is a painting made by Fabian De la Rosa. The scenic painting reminds me of the rural rice fields back at my home province. The rice stalks sway as the wind blows, gives a pleasant sight, like the waves in the ocean.

Awards. Even after his death, de la Rosa was recognized and was given the Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan (Guide of the Arts and Culture) by the City of Manila in 1968. De la Rosa's Transplanting Rice received the golden award at the International Exposition held in St. Louis, Missouri in 1904.

Notable works from this period include “Transplanting Rice,” which won De La Rosa the gold medal at the International Exposition held in St. Louis, Missouri in 1904, and also “The Death of General Lawton,” which won a bronze medal in the same exposition.
